SEVENTY7 MUSIC PUBLISHING
Seventy7 Music Publishing is a home for songwriters who want the level of attention that comes from a boutique establishment, but who also want access to international markets. With regard to expanding beyond domestic markets, Seventy7 Music Publishing achieves this in two ways: by connecting our songwriters with recording artists, music producers, and cooperating songwriters who have international appeal; and through our relationships with foreign sub-publishers who assist us in licensing and collecting royalties abroad.
It’s important to note that Seventy7 Music Publishing boasts one feature that no other publishing company can claim: CEO, Rodney Jerkins. In holding the position at the head of Seventy7, Rodney Jerkins makes it his job to see that Seventy7 and its songwriters are successful, which means he makes it his job to mentor the songwriters in the creative as well as the business aspects of songwriting.
In addition, Seventy7 Music Publishing goes beyond the typical duties of copyright management because we seek to cultivate our relationships with our songwriters and assist the songwriter in cultivating his or her craft. Seventy7 knows that an important part of a publisher’s role is the monetary advances that it provides the songwriter, thereby enabling the songwriter to concentrate on his or her craft; however, Seventy7 also sees its role as more of a partnership with the songwriter than a bank for the songwriter. This is because the publisher can only be as successful as its songwriters, which makes money advances only a small fraction of the formula that creates a successful songwriter. Seventy7 Music Publishing, therefore, emphasizes that a songwriter’s needs for cultivation and guidance are equally important to the monetary needs for advances, licensing, and royalty collection.
